Days Between Dates Calculator
Count calendar days, weeks, weekdays and weekends between dates.
Free calculator
Calculate completed years, months and days between two dates, plus total weeks, calendar days and calendar hours, privately in your browser.
Your dates are processed in this browser tab and are not intentionally stored or included in analytics events.
Enter a Date of Birth and an Age at the Date of target (which defaults to today's date), then click Calculate to view the exact age in years, months, and days, along with total months, total weeks, and total elapsed calendar days. All date inputs stay strictly inside your browser tab.
To count total workdays or calendar days between two arbitrary project dates, use the Days Between Dates Calculator or Business Days Calculator.
To add or subtract a specific number of years, months, or days from a date, use the Date Calculator.
This calculator uses its documented completed-year, completed-month, and remaining-day convention. It is a general calendar tool, not an eligibility decision for legal, medical or benefit purposes:
Completed Years: Increases by 1 each time you reach your birth month and birth day in a new calendar year.
Completed Months: Counts how many full monthly anniversaries of your birth day have passed since your most recent birthday.
Remaining days (calendar-anniversary method): After counting completed years and months, the calculator counts days from the last clamped monthly anniversary to the comparison date. Month lengths follow the Gregorian leap-year rules.
Suppose a child was born on January 20, 2024 and you want their exact age on March 5, 2026:
Years: From January 20, 2024 to January 20, 2026 = 2 completed years.
Months: From January 20, 2026 to February 20, 2026 = 1 completed month.
Days: From February 20, 2026 to March 5, 2026: because 2026 is a common year where February has 28 days, there are 28 − 20 = 8 days remaining in February plus 5 days in March = 13 days.
Exact chronological age: 2 years, 1 month, and 13 days (or 775 total elapsed days, which includes Leap Day on February 29, 2024).
Use this lookup table for ordinary birthdays in 2026. Check legal eligibility separately against the applicable authority.
| Birth Year | Age in 2026 (Before Your Birthday) | Age in 2026 (On or After Your Birthday) |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 | 5 years old | 6 years old |
| 2010 | 15 years old | 16 years old |
| 2008 | 17 years old | 18 years old |
| 2005 | 20 years old | 21 years old |
| 2000 | 25 years old | 26 years old |
| 1990 | 35 years old | 36 years old |
| 1980 | 45 years old | 46 years old |
| 1976 | 49 years old | 50 years old |
| 1966 | 59 years old | 60 years old |
| 1964 | 61 years old | 62 years old |
| 1961 | 64 years old | 65 years old |
| 1959 | 66 years old | 67 years old |
A Gregorian leap year is divisible by 4, except a century year must also be divisible by 400. This calculator uses its documented February 28 convention for a February 29 birthday in a non-leap year. Legal or benefit rules may use a different convention; check the governing authority before relying on a threshold.
To calculate a person's exact age in Years, Months, and Days inside Excel or Google Sheets (assuming their Date of Birth is in cell A2), use the built-in Microsoft Excel DATEDIF function:
| What You Want to Calculate | Excel / Google Sheets Formula | Sample Output (If A2 = 1995-06-15) |
|---|---|---|
| Completed Years only | =DATEDIF(A2, DATE(2026,10,27), "Y") | 31 |
| Remaining Months (after completed years) | =DATEDIF(A2, DATE(2026,10,27), "YM") | 4 |
| Remaining Days (after completed months) | =DATEDIF(A2, DATE(2026,10,27), "MD") | 12 |
| Full Age String (Years, Months, Days) | =DATEDIF(A2,DATE(2026,10,27),"Y")&" yrs, "&DATEDIF(A2,DATE(2026,10,27),"YM")&" mos, "&DATEDIF(A2,DATE(2026,10,27),"MD")&" days" | 31 yrs, 4 mos, 12 days |
| Total Elapsed Days Lived | =DATE(2026,10,27) - A2 (format cell as Number) | 11,457 |
The spreadsheet examples use October 27, 2026 as a fixed comparison date. Microsoft warns that DATEDIF with the MD argument can produce inaccurate results in some cases. Check end-of-month boundaries. Calendar hours in this tool are calendar days × 24, not elapsed wall-clock hours.
Subtract your birth year, month, and day from the target date. Count full completed years up to your most recent birthday, count full completed months up to the most recent monthly anniversary of your birth day, and count the remaining calendar days to the target date.
Calendar months have different lengths. Tools may use different end-of-month and leap-day conventions. This calculator documents its own convention; use the relevant authority for a legal or benefit threshold.
Because every 4-year period normally contains one 366-day leap year, an 18-year-old has lived either 6,574 or 6,575 days (depending on whether 4 or 5 leap days fell between their birth date and 18th birthday). A 21-year-old has lived 7,670 or 7,671 days, and a 30-year-old has lived 10,957 or 10,958 days.
Yes. Change the second date field ("Age at the Date of") from today's date to any historical date (such as the date of an event or census record) or any future date (such as a school-entry cutoff date or retirement date) and click Calculate.
