How to use this tool

Measure Monday-to-Friday days between two valid dates and optionally subtract curated public holidays for a selected market.

Transparent method

Formula and method

Business days = Monday-to-Friday weekdays in the selected interval minus supported holidays that fall on those weekdays. The end date is excluded unless selected.

Worked examples

  • Monday 7 September to Monday 14 September 2026 is five weekdays when the end date is excluded.
  • 1 July to 6 July 2026 is two U.S. business days after excluding the observed Independence Day holiday on Friday 3 July.
  • 23 December to 29 December 2027 is two England and Wales business days when the end date is excluded, after weekend and substitute Christmas and Boxing Day holidays.
  • Reversing the same two dates produces the same absolute business-day total and a clear reverse-order note.

Assumptions and limits

  • The calendar uses Monday through Friday as business days.
  • Holiday exclusion covers 2025 through 2028 only; other years safely use weekend-only counting.
  • United Kingdom coverage means England and Wales only, not Scotland or Northern Ireland.
  • Canada coverage uses federal statutory dates for federally regulated employers and does not infer a universal replacement weekday.

How the business-day count works

The calculator first counts Monday through Friday within the selected interval. It excludes the end date by default; selecting Include the end date adds that final date before weekend and holiday rules are applied.

When dates are reversed, CorelyUp uses the same absolute interval and identifies the reversed order in the result instead of rejecting valid dates.

Supported holiday calendars

Optional holiday exclusion covers 2025–2028. The U.S. calendar follows federal holidays and published observed weekdays for most federal employees. The UK option covers England and Wales bank holidays and published substitute days only.

The Canada option covers the 10 federal general holidays for federally regulated employers on their statutory calendar dates. Because a weekend replacement can be the scheduled workday before or after, or another agreed day, the calculator does not invent a universal substitute date.

What happens outside the supported years

If any part of a selected interval falls outside 2025–2028, holiday adjustment is disabled for the entire result. Weekends are still excluded and the result displays a warning, preventing a partially adjusted count from appearing complete.

Planning with business days

Use the result as a planning estimate for schedules, delivery windows and internal deadlines. Employment contracts, collective agreements, local observances, company closures and jurisdiction-specific rules can change the actual working calendar.

Frequently asked questions

How are business days calculated?

CorelyUp counts Monday through Friday in the selected interval, then subtracts supported holidays when holiday exclusion is enabled.

Is the end date included?

Not by default. Select Include the end date when the final date should be part of the working-day count.

Which U.S. holidays are supported?

The U.S. option uses federal holidays and published observed weekdays for most federal employees from 2025 through 2028.

Does the UK option cover all UK bank holidays?

No. It covers England and Wales bank holidays and published substitute days. Scotland and Northern Ireland have different calendars.

Which Canadian holidays are supported?

The Canada option uses the 10 federal general holidays for federally regulated employers on their statutory dates. It does not infer an employer-specific replacement day.

What happens outside 2025–2028?

Holiday exclusion is disabled for the full interval, weekends are still excluded, and the result shows a warning.

What happens if I enter the dates in reverse order?

The calculator displays the same absolute business-day total and clearly identifies that the end date is before the start date.

Is this result legal or payroll advice?

No. It is a planning estimate. Confirm local law, contracts, collective agreements and workplace closures for consequential decisions.
